Mani Monday: Julep Unboxing: Chrysalis Collection(January 2015)
Hey everybody! Welcome to Mani Monday. Today I'll be doing an unboxing of my January 2015 Julep box. I know it's a little late, but I just want to give everyone a taste of what to expect if you sign up for a subscription to Julep. Let's get started.
I received the Classic With A Twist box this(last) month. This box included an Oxygen Nail Treatment in Ivory, Maryam, and a Luxe Lip Treatment in Sheer Pink. I had enough Jules to add on some chevron stickers which, unfortunately, are no longer on their website. Also, through a special promotion by Julep, I was able to acquire a metamorphic top coat. I'll go into more detail about that one later.
Julep already has a line of Oxygen nail treatments and the ivory shade is the latest in the collection. This is a base coat and it brings life to your nails and ensures that you lacquer has a sturdy base to stick to. I absolutely love this base coat and I plan to order another bottle as soon as I start to get low.
Maryam is a shimmery brownish red color. I really like shimmery colors because they give you shine without being overbearing as some glitter polishes can be. I haven't yet worn Maryam, but you can find swatches of her on Julep's website. Just type Maryam into the search box and click on the polish when it shows up in the search results.
Although this looks like a lip gloss, it's actually a lip treatment. They come in four different colors and I'm sure it can be worn under lipstick(which Julep is coming out with very soon!) in order to avoid having dry and chapped lips. Mine came in sheer pink and I believe I'll get great use out of it.
I've always wanted to try chevron stickers, but I must admit that I wasn't too impressed with these. They come too long for your nails, so you don't have a choice but to cut them. Also, they didn't stick well to my nail polish. I had to put them on when my polish was dry, but because it was dry, it had nothing to stick to. Had I attempted to put them on while my polish was still wet, I risked having to adjust them or living with a crooked placement. I think I'll just stick to nail gems and glitter for accents.
Last but certainly not least, we have Tilda, the green metamorphic top coat. I have to admit, I was VERY confused when I saw the promotion for these polishes. Julep was offering one of the three polishes free in your Maven box if you requested it, so regardless of how confused I was, I signed up to get it. They also come in blue and purple. Basically, this is a top coat that alters the color of the polish under it. While it doesn't work on all colors, the ones that it does work on are pretty amazing. I tested it on an array of blues and greens and my favorite combination was Tilda over Julep's Lacey. Because it's dark here right now, I'll have to upload the swatches of different polishes I tested tomorrow. To make up for the lack of swatches, I'll insert a picture of my current mani.
I'm wearing Julep's Karissa(which is on sale right now!) on both hands with a 3 dot nail gem accent nail on my right hand and Julep's Kirby as an accent on my left hand. My favorite color is blue but I must say I'm loving the change I've made by choosing red this time. :-)
Well, I hope you enjoyed this unboxing and you can look forward to more unboxings in the future of Julep boxes, Walmart beauty boxes, and many more. I'll see you all tomorrow for Tuesday Tasties. Until next time :-)
